HOW TO CLEAN YOUR BOYS FORMAL WEAR SUIT

Cleaning for suits can be a daunting business but it doesn’t need to be. At Sirri, we know that spending a good amount of money on kids' formal wear and then having it look like a pair of stonewashed jeans is a disappointment. Our formal wear is designed with carefully selected fabrics to ensure that they look in pristine condition, wash after wash. Don’t forget to follow the label, in cases that the items need to be dry cleaned, then please follow those instructions. A product that needs to be dry cleaned can be ruined no matter how carefully you wash it at home.

First up, fill a basin or large sink with cold water. For many of those items that can be washed, use a good quality mild wool detergent using the “soft” or “gentle” cycle on your machine. gently agitate it in the water, rubbing any soiled area softly with your fingers. If you have washed it sufficiently and feel that the garment is clean, then empty and refill the basin with cold water, this time without soap. Rinse the garment well. Whatever the case may be, under no circumstances should you spin it or tumble it.  Take the dripping well towel, roll it with the clothing inside, squeezing gently to remove water. Repeat the process until the fabric is no longer dripping wet. Depending on the fabric this can take up to 3-5 times of repeating the entire process. Once dry, have it pressed carefully.

Accessories for boys' suits, first up is the suit brush. Invest in a good brush and it will last you forever!

In the event that you don’t wash the suit, then having a good-quality suit brush will suffice. Using a suit brush (or clothes brush as some call it) is one effective way to prolong the life of your suit. When choosing a suit brush, look out for one that has natural materials  - anything else would be just too coarse and can scratch your suit. Cleaning your suit with a brush can remove dirt, food, and dust that is built upon the outside before it settles into the fabric causing permanent damage.

Some finer points to remember:

1) Turn up the collar and lapels. Use light strokes and follow the nap (the natural direction) of the fabric; do not scrub your garment.

2) Brush only in one direction.

3) If there is a mark on the children's suit, then use small, quick strokes. Don’t prod otherwise you can break the fiber of the fabric, causing unsightly “blemishes” on the fabric.

STORING YOUR CLOTHES

No matter what happens, wire hangers don’t belong in your closet, especially for suits. It is worth investing in a good quality wooden suit hanger which will help maintain the shape of your boy's jacket and make it last longer. The last thing you want is to have a coat that has a stretched collar and droopy shoulders. Many of these come in a wide variety of widths, have cut notches,  with a non-slip bar for the boy's trousers
